crib goch from Llanberis slate Quarry, Dieniolen Acrylic on hot press water colour paper, Paper soaked then acrylic allowed to run, parchment white first then pale blue followed by crimson for crib goch in the background, pen y pass in the foreground yellow ochre followed by purple laid over for areas of rock.

Next step adding highlights, finding detail in runs of paint,.slow painstaking but exciting work, trying to be careful with brush stroke 2 not to leave a discernable stroke, best done when paper remains damp but not flooded with water.

New painting started this week, snowdon from gwynant pass, Acrylic painting on hot pressed water colour paper. basic shapes floated in on soaked paper then colour built up and let to run, then knocked back with lightened ultramarine blue left to dry.
Once dry look for the shapes and happy accidents to develop form of picture.

welsh cob progress

second day of painting, everything slowing down, as usual getting caught up adding too much detail, rather than letting the brush strokes flow, foreleg seems to long need to cut that back , I quite like the indestinct blue edges to the form gives it a bit of life, to be continued next week.
